This Privacy Policy explains how SplitBill ("SplitBill", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our receipt-splitting web app at splitbill-il.web.app. If you have any questions, contact us at contact@nisai.dev.

What SplitBill does

SplitBill lets you photograph or upload a restaurant receipt. We use artificial intelligence (AI) to read the receipt and extract the list of items and prices, then help you assign items to diners and split the bill — including the tip. If you sign in with Google, your finished bills can be saved to your private history.

Information we collect

  • Google account information — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile identifier from Google to create and secure your account.
  • Receipt images — photos you capture with your camera or upload from your gallery are stored in Firebase Storage so they can be processed and displayed.
  • Extracted bill data — the items, quantities, prices, totals, tip, and how the bill was split, stored in Firebase Firestore.
  • Saved bills and shared sessions — for signed-in users, completed bills and any shared "split" sessions you host or join.
  • Guest sessions — if you use the app without signing in, we create an anonymous, temporary session so the app can function. It is not linked to a personal identity.
  • Basic technical data — standard information such as device/browser type and app usage needed to operate and secure the service (handled by Firebase).

How we use your information

  • To read receipts and extract items and prices using AI.
  • To calculate each diner's share, tips, and totals.
  • To save and show your bill history (signed-in users).
  • To sync shared split sessions between people splitting the same bill.
  • To secure the service and prevent abuse.

We do not show ads and we do not sell your personal data.

Where your data is stored

SplitBill is built on Google Firebase and runs on Google Cloud infrastructure. Receipt images are stored in Firebase Storage, and bill data is stored in Firebase Firestore. Data may be processed on Google servers in accordance with Google's security practices.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run SplitBill:

  • Google Firebase — authentication (Google Sign-In), database (Firestore), file storage (Storage), and hosting.
  • AI / LLM providers — to read your receipt, the receipt image and/or its extracted text is sent to an AI model provider for text extraction. Depending on availability, this may be Google Gemini, Groq, or OpenRouter. These providers process the receipt solely to return the extracted items and prices.

We do not use advertising networks, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Data retention

Receipt images and extracted bill data are kept so we can provide the service and your history. Saved bills remain until you delete them or delete your account. Guest-session data is temporary. When you delete your account, we remove your saved bills and any split sessions you host, and we delete your authentication record.

Your rights and choices

  • Access — you can view your saved bills inside the app.
  • Deletion — the app includes a Delete Account feature (in Settings) that permanently removes your account and associated data. You can also delete individual saved bills.
  • Requests — for any other privacy request, email contact@nisai.dev.

Children's privacy

SplitBill is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

We use reasonable technical measures, including Firebase security rules and Google Cloud safeguards, to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

היכן המידע נשמר
